Professional Recommendation 16th January 2017 Reference for Amanda Long My name is Shirley Barr and I am a qualified Christian Counsellor (AIFC – Advanced Diploma of Family Counselling) and a qualified teacher (Diploma of Teaching). I have known Mandy for fourteen years, both in a professional and a personal relationship. In this time I have witnessed Mandy successfully organising, facilitating and working programs for women, (individuals and groups), some of which I have been part of and have observed the excellence of her ability to communicate and to help others to learn, to move through circumstances and to experience personal growth. Since I have known her I have seen her work tirelessly volunteering her time, resources and energy in helping others in the community wherever there is a need. It is without a doubt her passion to be available to use her many skills, incredible creativity and extensive knowledge (both learned and life experience) to sow into the lives of others. She has mentored many people, not just women but also men, young adults and worked with children while supporting the parents. I have found Mandy to also be someone whom I trust and respect to act in a mentoring role for myself and as a peer to seek counsel when needed. I have no hesitation in recommending Mandy for any position as she is a very honest, genuine, integral, wise, strong, ethical, non-judgemental and reliable person who has overcome many life hurdles and struggles. She also has a heart to help others to become the best person they can be and have the best life possible, no matter what their circumstances are. Client Recommendation: September 2017 I have found Mandy's approach to counselling refreshingly honest and recovery focused. Mandy's unwavering ability to see the potential in everyone and try a variety of approaches to reach a breakthrough has given me the capacity to also see the possibility that I could recover.
Being able to be honest with Mandy about all aspects of my illness has allowed me the freedom to be less judgemental about myself and to change my focus from all that is wrong with to me to seeing that although I may not have it all together right now - the fact that I am open to making changes shows strength it itself.
Through Mandy I can see that it's OK to go through dark places, but that I have the ability to not stay there.
After talking to Mandy I always feel like there is HOPE for a different future...
Client Recommendation: December 2017 Thank you TEW
I came to TEW in hope of pushing forward in some life issues I thought was impossible, messy and shameful to admit. With the TEW’s sessions I found myself working through these issues speaking openly.
I enjoyed every session and looked forward to all my sessions talking about “myself” in a safe environment.
You’ve given me hope, happiness and perspective. Through my grieving I was able to tap into areas that needed healing which affected my day to day life. I loved the writing activities as it gave me incentive to think on the spot and be true to “me”. No right or wrong answers or judgment but your thoughtful processes encouraged me to look at HOW I WAS living to become more productive and self loving to HOW TO live life to MY best ability and be happy with it.
